Values That Shape My Work

Work is most meaningful when it's aligned with what you believe — here's what I bring to mine:

  •  Trust is foundational. Strong relationships don’t happen overnight, but the investment pays dividends in everything we build together.
  •  People are the whole point. Systems and outcomes improve when the humans behind them feel seen, supported, and valued.
  •  Perspective is always available. Even when things feel heavy or stuck, there’s usually another angle worth exploring — sometimes even one with a little levity.
  •  The best ideas cross boundaries. Expertise matters deeply, but so does the curiosity of a beginner’s mind and the unexpected sparks that come from mixing disciplines and voices.

My Bio

About

Through JLG Coaching and Consulting, Jenifer strengthens boards of directors and leadership teams for mission impact. Drawing on decades of experience and a national network of top consultants, she brings in-depth research, data, and hands-on work with hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the globe — always with the individualized attention each client deserves.

Jenifer is relational and strategic in equal measure; those that know her best characterize her as thoughtful, insightful, and reliable. She consults on subjects that matter: governance, sustainability, race equity, and the quiet courage it takes to lead something you believe in. Armed with more than two decades inside the work — as an executive, co-founder, facilitator, and coach — Jenifer doesn’t offer easy answers. She offers accompaniment.

A contributing author to Putting Purpose First: Nonprofit Board Leadership Today, she also co-founded New York City’s Alliance for Community Enhancement (ACE) and helped publish Harlem Treasures, a neighborhood guidebook that remains a love letter to that community. Her clients have included PEAK Grantmaking, the Impact-Driven Philanthropy Collaborative, the National Center for Family Philanthropy, Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, YMCA of the USA, and several family foundations. She has guest lectured at Georgetown University and serves on the boards of Mental Health America and The Restoration Center, Inc., where she is immediate past Chair.

Based in the greater Washington, DC area, Jenifer takes a stand for what becomes possible when people work beyond boundaries in co-creation with others.

What's Next

Looking Ahead

Work is most fruitful and satisfying when it’s values-aligned. Here are some of mine:

  • Relational trust is a powerful catalyst that is developed over time.
  • Systems, products, and outcomes benefit when space is made for the wholeness of the humans supporting them.
  • Different perspectives are always available, even if seemingly out of reach at times. On occasion, this may even include things like lightness and fun!
